Daily SNAPSHOT- January 29th

Brooklyn go for 97- Beating the downtrodden Magic who slump to their 6th straight loss and 2-8 in their Last 10 games. The Nets got out to an early lead with some well run plays that left room for knock-em-down shooters like Deron Williams and never looked back. Vucevic’ performance is once again a redeeming factor for a team that is looking to rebuild.

Golden State go for 114- Bogut returns for only his 5th game of the year after ankles problems and  adds instantly to the Warriors growing offensive threat with 12 points and 8 rebounds. Golden State rise above Denver in the West and into 5th.

Houston go for 125!- Beating the Jazz by a full 45 points. Harden lead the way with 25 points and Asik with 18 career high rebounds destroying the Jazz and handing the jazz their worst home defeat EVER. The Rockets were fantastic all-around the court and consolidated a rollercoaster year that had many predicting them battling for a bottom place in the West (before Harden’s arrival anyway)

Notes: Chicago roll on and look like a real contender, especially with Rose’ return imminent. AND HARRISON BARNES DOES IT AGAIN (check dunks page tonight)

Daily SNAPSHOT- January 28th (RONDO ACL)

Boston Win without Rondo- Boston take the high-flying Miami to the wire and win it in double overtime in a excellent encounter. The Celtics went out unknowing that their youthful and dynamic All-Star point guard Rajon Rondo will miss the rest of 2013 and effectively put the dagger in the last stance of the old guard. If Boston make it into the playoffs with no Rondo it will be a great achievement but there’s no way they make it past the top or second placed Eastern team. General Manager Ainge has some HUGE decisions to make about where to go next.

Lakers win with style- Their second straight win against the top Western side. Kobe’s near Triple Double (21, 9, 14) allowed for the Lakers to share the wealth and even with Howards poor shooting from the line, look like a real team again. The Thunder didn’t do anything  wrong from a basketball standpoint but a couple of technical fouls and backchat to the referees swung the game  in the Yellows favour. 35 points from Durant continues his high scoring for the year.

Carmelo wins with 3ease- 9 thee-point shots made from downtown and a layup and 1 won the game for the Knicks against Josh Smith’s Atlanta Hawks by 2. Melo’s career night and the franchise high for 3’s along with solid scoring from JR, Felton and Stoudemire meant the Knicks starters got it done in tightly contested Eastern Conference battle that ended 106-104 in the New York Knicks Favour.

Notes: Look out for Jeff Green’s SLAM DUNK.

Rondo Tears ACL

ORIGINAL: 20.03pm

UPDATED: 22.03pm 27/1/13

The Celtics Point Guard and League Assist leader Rajon Rondo is out for the rest of the season and possibly into 2014 because of a torn ACL. A shame for a player who had true All-Star potential in 2013/14

What will this mean for Boston? We think that this may put an end to Boston’s playoff hopes this season and realistically put the nail in the coffin of the Celtics magical playoff run over the last 20 years. Yes, it’s a shame but Boston were always living on borrowed time, Ray Allen knew this.

Rondo Touchdown Pass vs Pistons last week.

‘Blow it up and look towards the future’ were the words of one the NBA’s legendary assister Magic Johnson on Sunday night as he insinuates the Celtics should give up their chase of the East this year.

‘People will be writing the obituary, but we’re not’- Doc Rivers

Daily SNAPSHOT- January 26th

First off, yes this will include the Lakers…their rollercoaster season needs to be documented.

Lakers Click- The highest scoring players record only 17 each but the team score 102 and win by 18 against the Jazz showing that the Lakers were sharing the load aswell as the ball. Turning point 2.0?

Miami Click- After trailing to the Pistons in the second Miami put together a 65% shooting performance and show that a little star quality makes all the difference.

Irving Clicks his fingers- The Cavaliers look a lot stronger with their talisman back on the court. Irving gets his strong performances both this year and last rewarded with an All-Star reserve place and proves this isn’t undeserved with 35 points and 24 in the second half.

Daily SNAPSHOT- January 24th

You know whats coming, or do you?

Yes, Lakers lose-  Even home advantage wasn’t enough to beat the strong Western Grizzlies as the Gasol brothers Pau and Marc face off against each other. Dwight Howard left the game with a shoulder injury and 2 points. 0/4FG. As much as we analyse, the yellows just aren’t good enough.

Yes, Golden State Win– GSW continue to ride a great season with the surprising win against the All-Star Thunder squad keeping them in a fantastic 5th. David Lee shows his agressive paint moves moving to his 17th game in a row where he get 20 points and 10 rebounds (or above)

Yes, Lebron James- Triple doubles are a fantastic achievement in basketball but in context Lebron’s stats seemingly make this second class news when nights like this should be celebrated, which they will come playoff time and not in an overtime game where Lebron missed the buzzer beater. The heat beat the Raptors 123-116 in a game that saw Toronto push the heat into overtime and Dwayne Wade scoring a season high 35 points.

Notes- Terrence Ross throw down again, check our Dunks page!

Dwightmare 2.0

We always knew that it would be tough for the Lakers stars to mould and merge and really work together and not as individuals. It was always going to be Kobe’s team and as Kobe’s team it would be played by Kobe’s rules, which ultimately means Kobe taking 20 shots a night and running thing his way. This is something that isn’t happening with the introduction of Superstar Howard.

“Obviously, this isn’t working,” Lakers star Kobe Bryant told Yahoo! Sports after the Chicago loss.

“I’ve tried to go out of my way to get (Howard) the ball. Sometimes I end up looking like an idiot, because I get up in the air, I’ve got a shot, but I try to find him. But he thinks I’m going to shoot, so his back is turned. I’m trying to think about getting him the ball a lot — take care of him as much as I possibly can. It takes me out of rhythm a little bit, but I’m fine with that. If that’s going to help our team, I’m more than willing to do that.

Will Dwight end up at Brooklyn? Is that in the Nets best interests? After all the star team hasn’t worked for the Lakers. The trade of Shaquille O’Neal proves this. The Magic have the youth and potential without Dwight. The Lakers have an aging team of stars that are failing with Dwight.

SOMETHING SIMPLY HAS TO BE DONE!

Daily SNAPSHOT- January 23rd

All the action from yesterday summed up today!

Pistons win bottom of the East dual- Detroit come up trumps in the battle of the bottom but will these sort of victories benefit them down the line when draft prospects/picks are decided. With both teams still building losses are just as important as wins.

Eastern playoff teams dual- 76ers lose to the boisterous Bucks in another all-Eastern clash. Ilyasova brings the pain with 27 points and 16 rebounds further promoting the Milwaukee Bucks as a potential East threat.

Western leaders dual- Kevin Durant continues to show that he’s ‘The Future’ (a classy nickname if you ask us) with a 32/7 performance with Griffin also proving to be the Clippers points scoring star with 31/11. Thunder come up clutch with a 109-97 victory.

Daily notables.

Kyrie Irvings 40 points and 5 assists (1 point from a career high) take Boston down a peg or two and leaves the Celtics holding onto 8th in the East for dear life.
